The construction of campus building at Champassak University in the southern province is set to being and will take a year and half to complete. The Ministry of Education and Sport’s Higher Education Department and the contractor Luang Paseuth Contraction Co.,Ltd. recently singed an agreement on the terms of the project.

The building to be constructed include a four-storey administration building, a one-storey auditorium, a two- storey IT building , a two- storey library, 2 two- storey and 2 three- storey classroom and faculty block , 2 one- storey single teacher houses, 2 one- storey family teacher houses, public toilets, and toilets with Showers for dormitories.

The Asian Development Bank has provided a U$$5.1million loan for the project, While the contractor is responsible for carrying out the construction. Champssak University opened in 2003 to cater to students from the southern province, and is currently operating at Pakse Technical and Vocational Schools. It has a 1,900-hectare site to develop as a campus, but lacks the necessary funding. The local authorities have built three dormitories,a guesthouse,and around 50 classroom. The university has about 3,000 students attending five faculties, with700 to 800 enrollments per year.
